Vercel Secures $300 Million in Funding to Enhance AI Capabilities and Cloud Services

Vercel secures $300M funding led by Accel & GIC to expand AI Cloud services and enhance developer tools globally

TL;DR

On September 30, 2025, Vercel Inc., a leading front-end development platform, raised $300 million in a Series F round led by Accel and GIC, with participation from BlackRock, StepStone, and Khosla Ventures, valuing the company at $9.3 billion. Founded by Guillermo Rauch, Vercel is accelerating its AI pivot through its AI Cloud platform, AI SDK, and v0 coding agent. The company also launched the Vercel Agent for automated code review and plans to release v0 Mobile. Vercel serves clients like OpenAI, Anthropic, PayPal, Nike, and Walmart. The funds will expand AI cloud services, enhance developer tools, and support a $300M secondary tender for employees and early investors, reinforcing Vercel’s role in web development and AI integration.

Vercel Inc., a leading name in front-end development, has announced a significant milestone in its journey towards enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company recently raised an impressive $300 million in a late-stage Series F funding round. This financial boost will allow Vercel to accelerate its AI pivot, further solidifying its role as a key player in the web development landscape.

The Series F funding round was oversubscribed and led by prominent investors, including Accel and the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC. Additional participation came from new investors such as BlackRock, StepStone, and Khosla Ventures. Following this investment, Vercel's valuation has soared to $9.3 billion, reflecting the growing demand for platforms that facilitate the rapid deployment of scalable websites and applications.

As businesses increasingly integrate AI into their core operations, the demand for developer-friendly platforms like Vercel is on the rise. Guillermo Rauch, the founder and CEO of Vercel, emphasized this trend in a recent blog post announcing the funding. He noted that Vercel has established itself as a vital resource for developers, primarily through its flagship product, Next.js, an open-source framework for building front-end applications.

Vercel’s innovative approach leverages Node.js through a cloud service that offloads processing tasks typically executed in users' browsers to the servers of website operators. This architectural shift leads to significantly faster task completion and reduced web page loading times, enhancing the overall user experience.

In the past year, Vercel has strategically pivoted towards AI development, launching its AI Cloud platform. A cornerstone of this platform is the AI SDK (Software Development Kit), which provides developers streamlined access to over 60 advanced large language models from industry leaders, including OpenAI, Anthropic PBC, and Meta Platforms Inc. The rapid adoption of the AI SDK is evident, with over 3 million downloads recorded weekly, making it Vercel's fastest-growing open-source project.

Rauch remarked, “Just like React brought accessibility to pages, the AI SDK is bringing accessibility to tokens to multiple sources of intelligence.” This sentiment underscores Vercel’s commitment to democratizing AI tools for developers.

In addition to the AI SDK, Vercel provides access to AI infrastructure and a coding platform known as v0, which currently boasts a user base exceeding 3.5 million. Earlier this month, the company introduced its first AI agent, the Vercel Agent, which is currently available in public beta. This AI agent automates code reviews by scanning both human and AI-generated codebases, identifying issues, and proposing fixes. The fixes are validated in sandboxed environments to prevent further problems from arising.

Rauch expressed enthusiasm about the evolution of Vercel, stating, “Our bet on open source has become a powerful flywheel, and we’re excited to continue democratizing agents and making them accessible to everyone.” He noted that Vercel has undergone significant growth in the past year, comparable to the progress made in its initial nine years of existence.

The introduction of the AI Cloud has catalysed remarkable growth for Vercel, with its user base doubling over the past 12 months and revenue increasing by 82%, although the specific revenue figures remain undisclosed. The company’s clientele includes industry giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic, PayPal Holdings Inc., Nike Inc., and Walmart Inc., further validating the robustness of Vercel’s offerings.

The funds raised in this latest funding round will be utilized to expand Vercel’s AI cloud services and enhance the capabilities of its v0 development agent. Notably, Vercel is set to launch a mobile version of v0 later this month, which will empower developers to build applications utilizing voice and camera inputs, a move that promises to increase accessibility and functionality.

In addition to these initiatives, Vercel is also planning a secondary tender offer worth $300 million specifically for current and former employees and early investors. This offer is expected to close next month, providing an exciting opportunity for those who have been part of Vercel's journey.

Vercel's recent funding achievement represents a pivotal moment in its ongoing evolution as a leader in the tech industry. With a strong focus on AI and an unwavering commitment to providing developer-friendly solutions, the company is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of the digital landscape. As Vercel continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it remains a critical player in shaping the future of web development and AI integration.
